Rapper Wisin Mourns Death of 1-Month-Old Daughter

Puerto Rican rapper and reggaeton superstar Wisin announced that his 1-month-old daughter, Victoria, died on Friday, September 30.

“I thank God for her one month of life, one month with Victoria,” he wrote in Spanish alongside a photo of his wife, Yomaira Ortiz Feliciano, with Victoria. “Princess Victoria, I will see you again in heaven. I’m in so much pain, God please help me. I want to thank millions of people who were praying for our family and for our Victoria.”

The Grammy winner — whose real name is Juan Luis Morera Luna — revealed earlier this month on Instagram that the infant was born with genetic disorder trisomy 13. The chromosomal condition causes intellectual disabilities and physical abnormalities, and most babies with the disorder don’t live past a few weeks, according to the National Institutes of Health.

“At this time the health of our daughter is the most important for us,” Wisin wrote in a September 6 Instagram post, translated from Spanish. “Like any other parent, I ask you to continue to pray for us so that we can overcome this process and that our daughter will be able to recover soon. God will fulfill his purpose in our Victoria.”

Ortiz Feliciano became an outspoken critic of abortion after finding out her child had a genetic disorder five months into her pregnancy. She said her doctors recommended that she terminate the pregnancy. “Doctors try to convince you that abortion is the right thing to do, but that is not the path that God wants us to take,” she said on Telemundo Puerto Rico’s Dando Candela, according to Fox News Latino. “Who are we to decide the life of a human being, even if it’s our own child?”

The couple, who married in 2008, are also parents of son Dylan and daughter Yelena.
